Erased James Franco

(This is non-fashion related, though James is so good looking I guess you can consider this fashion related.)

He looked so good that he made me look really awful.

I am very fortunate to say that this past Sunday I got to meet my one and only favorite actor James Franco twice. Yes, twice.

It was an all day (1pm-10pm) film event in San Francisco which I anticipated for almost 2 months! Screenings of "Safe" and James Franco's favorite episodes of "Freaks and Geeks" at the SFMOMA. And then screening of "Seconds" and the West Coast premier of "Erased James Franco" at the Castro Theater. James Franco appeared at both events.

At SFMOMA, I had thought he left right after he introduced and talked about "Freaks and Geeks", so i was a bit upset so my bf and i decided to go eat instead. At that point, I had given up completely. We walked back to the garage an hour later and as we were waiting to pay for parking, from the corner of my right eye, I saw a group of men walking and I spotted a leather jacket. I turned my head and there walked by James Franco, Carter (the artist who wrote and directed the film), and the curator! I literally froze for 3 seconds before i managed to say JAMES! JAMES! I was literally shaking inside but somehow I managed to remain calm on the outside and didn't make a fool out of myself (well not too much at least) haha. He was so nice, we took pictures and he signed my ticket and took time to draw a smiley face on there with a lot of dots (freckles maybe? ahhhh cute!) I told him I'll be seeing him again later that night in the Castro and he was like GREAT! I can't believe it happened like that. Had we not parked at that garage, had we not gone to eat, had we not walked back to the garage at that exact time... none of this would have happened. What was amazing was that not one single person was there! Seriously, the event was 90% girls and 10% guys, so I was really lucky!!!

Second event... we got to Castro early, they showed "Seconds" first and then "Erased James Franco", it's more a performance art based on Robert Rauschenberg's drawing "Erased de Kooning". Anyways, they did Q&A afterward and then I got to meet James again outside as he was leaving! Tons of people then but what can I complain! Took another picture with him in his second outfit! So happy!!!

Ahhh so adorable!

And I have the greatest bf who didn't complain at all the entire day and even surprised me with a limited edition signed "Erased James Franco" poster! Ahhhh! This happened two days ago but I still can't get James out of my head. I like him even more now! Oh boy...

Where the furry things are...

Finally! I took some pictures of the fur coat I mentioned in a couple of previous posts. I got this faux fur coat with this amazing collar and cuffs for $11 awhile back. I love it but what I've truly been searching for is the perfect leopard fur coat. And just three days ago I found it!!! It's absolutely perfect! Perfect size and length, super cute collar, and beautiful red satin lining! The most gorgeous thing about this coat is that the leopard fur has a "gradient" effect... I'm not sure if you can see it in the pictures but the color of the fur changes from a darker camel color to a lighter cream color throughout the entire coat. It's so unique! Oh, and I got this one for $12.50! No, it's not a typo.... twelve dollars and fifty cents! It's like Christmas but even better!

Quirky and Adorable

Photobucket

As the semester winds down, I am trying to catch a breath of air in the midst of papers, exams, projects, and critiques (all in multiple forms). I am graduating in December and I am trying to make sure that I am on top of my game, which explains my absence here. The weather in the Bay Area has been bipolar lately. We went from a huge storm to summer-like hot days to coldness and rain all in one week. It really makes me a little insane. I layer up my outfit in the morning only to find myself slowly taking each layer off in the afternoon. Ugh.

Yesterday, I went thrifting and found some amazing blouses! It's so hard to find a good blouse! I usually only come across those that are either way too big, too granny-looking, or simply just too plain and boring. But yesterday I didn't just find one amazing blouse... I found THREE! All for a total of $7.25! I think I am going to alter the cream blouse on the left, I think it will be way cuter if the sleeves are short. Oooh I can't wait to pair these up with high waisted shorts or skirts and a cute cardigan!
Photobucket

Zooey Deschanel totally popped up in my head when I am looking at these blouses. I adore her madly but no one knows that about me! I guess it's because I really don't talk about her much. I mean, to be honest, she isn't that great of an actress or that great of a singer. Fashion and style, she is a genius.

All about the colors...

Weather during the daytime has not been cold enough for me to wear the new faux fur coat I got for eleven bucks... and I refuse to snap a picture at night because it's hard to capture the beautiful color and fur. Daylight will do it better justice. In the meanwhile, I leave you with some deliciously looking photos.

My favorite necklaces, the ones that actually make it to the wall. All my other ones are all tangled up in a box.

I just finished making this cotton candy cake tissue-box-cover today! I am quite proud of it! I am going to make more with different designs. They will all be available on my etsy soon!

I found this ring at F21. The very last one! I love how crazy and colorful it looks!

Fashionably environmental-friendly

Sorry for the lack of updates lately! This past week has been insanely hectic for me with a handful of projects and events. However, I did manage to squeeze in some shopping time (haha never too busy to shop!) and scored some amazing finds! The jackpot was this fur coat I got for $11!!! I will post some pictures of that soon.

In the last entry, I posted some of my favorite looks from Spring 2010. Below are a few more. I am especially loving Moschino Cheap and Chic, simple color palette with bows and unique designs... totally chic and gorgeous! I want them all!

Mesh, Sheer, Genius.

It seems to me that mesh is making a come back and I am all for it! It is the secret to showing skin yet not showing too much skin, perhaps it is a subtle way to let people catch a glimpse of what's underneath while remaining classy. Unlike fishnets or other patterns, mesh is definitely a more tone-down way to be provocative. Well, unless you are wearing that long sleeve mesh dress from American Apparel with absolutely nothing underneath, then you are just being cheap.

Christopher Kane has a few amazing pieces in his collection that are sheer and purely genius. The complexity of shapes and geometric patterns makes a nice contrast with the simple black, white, and gray colors. They are feminine yet bold. They are absolutely gorgeous and I would die to make one of these mine!

Also, today I received a pair of vintage mesh shoes in the mail. I adore them! Simple, comfy, and they go with anything! Now my next mission is to find another pair just like this but black.

In other news, I went thrifting yesterday and found the most perfect oversize sweater for fall! Well, actually it's not really oversize, it just has an oversize look. The shoulder fits perfectly, unlike most oversize clothing where you can see the shoulder seams fall way off your shoulders. It is not too thin or thick and the length is just right, about 2 inches above my knees. See it for yourself...

Leopard and my favorite Daisy!

Photobucket
Here, I am wearing a pair of leopard knee-high tights from Japan and Vince Camuto cream patent heels.

Leopard print has been around for a long time, but it's a matter of knowing how to wear this wild pattern. It all depends on the right kind of material with the right kind of outfit at the right moment. Otherwise, it can go very wrong! Leopard fur coat is a classic and looks very chic with a simple black outfit underneath, while skin tight leopard dress can look rather trashy.

I love Daisy Lowe. I love her style, her hair, and even her dad! (For those who don't know, her estranged dad is Gavin Rossdale. And I love Gavin because I love Gwen. I love Gwen to death, been a No Doubt fan since 1996. Oooops... sorry for the non-related info!) Below are couple more images of Daisy wearing a leopard leotard:

Buy! Buy! Buy!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! My very last semester of college just started two days ago so I've been quite busy figuring out my schedule and trying to get into classes. Because of the poor economy and budget cut, there are less courses being offered and so everyone is going crazy trying to get into classes. So frustrating! I will write a proper post soon but in the meanwhile, please check out my etsy - apricotbabybaby.etsy.com. It used to be just my handmade crochet goodies but now there are more! I spent the entire day listing things from my beloved closet! Dresses, tops, shoes, etc... So please check it out and buy some! I will be listing some accessories and purses in the next few days so stay tuned!

Here are just a few of the things you can buy from me:
